This recipe collection began as a way to back up my mother's recipe collection that she has collected in a black binder since the 1950's. Maggie and I are also adding recipes that we want to keep track of, so this will become our family go to location for storing and finding our recipes

Chocolate Toppers

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup finely ground nuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sifted flour (1-1/2)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate pieces

Directions

  1. Cream butter; add sugar; beat until light.
  2. Add nuts, vanilla, flour, and salt. (Mixture will be dry,)
  3. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness between two sheets of waxed paper. Cut with floured, small, fancy cookie cutter.
  4. Bake on cookie sheets in hot oven, 400 degrees, for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks, and cool.
  5. Melt chocolate over hot water. Put cookies together with chocolate, sandwich fashion. Spread tops with chocolate.
