Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
- 1 egg
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg white
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons colored sugar, green
- 1/4 cup red cinnamon candies
Directions
- Cream butter; add 1/2 cup sugar, orange rind, and egg; beat until light.
- Add flour and salt.
- Chill for several hours, or until firm enough to roll.
- Roll to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with floured, 2-inch doughnut cutter. Put on cookie sheets.
- Beat egg white until foamy; add 2 tablespoons sugar gradually, and beat until stiff. Brush cookies with mixture.
- Decorate cookies with green sugar and cinnamon candies. Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees, for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Remove to wire racks while hot.
