This recipe collection began as a way to back up my mother's recipe collection that she has collected in a black binder since the 1950's. Maggie and I are also adding recipes that we want to keep track of, so this will become our family go to location for storing and finding our recipes

Mom's Cheese Cake

NOTE: This is Nonna's cheese bread.

Ingredients

All ingredients should be at room temperature.

  • 2 dozen eggs
  • 1 pound margarine
  • 1 1/2 pounds Romano cheese
  • 3 packets active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water -- (to dissolve yeast)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 pounds all-purpose flour
  • salt and pepper to test

Directions

  1. Beat eggs in a large bowl.
  2. Add cheese, salt and pepper.
  3. Add half the flour and the dissolved yeast.
  4. Add margarine until all mixed together.
  5. Add milk and the remaining flour.
  6. Allow to rise in a large pan.
  7. Separate into loaf pans and let rise again.
  8. Bake at 375F until done.
