This recipe collection began as a way to back up my mother's recipe collection that she has collected in a black binder since the 1950's. Maggie and I are also adding recipes that we want to keep track of, so this will become our family go to location for storing and finding our recipes

Ann's Hungarian Cookies

Start to Finish Time: 2 hours 32 minutes

Note: I think this recipe might need about 1 cup of sugar. If anyone tries it, let me know. I will have to try making them and figure it out.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound unsalted butter
  • 12 ounces cream cheese
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Cream butter with cream cheese until blended.
  2. Cut in flour and salt with pastry blender until the size of small peas.
  3. Add lightly beaten egg yolks, and vanilla. Mix the dough lightly.
  4. Keep in refrigerator for about 2 hours, or overnight before baking.
  5. Divide into two parts. Roll out to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut with fancy shaped cookie cutter.
  6. Bake on a greased or waxed paper cookie sheet for 12 minutes in a 325 degree to 350 degree oven, as desired.
