German Cake Cookies

Although labled as cookies, this recipe only makes sense if you realize it has to be a cake.
Ingredients
- Cake:
- 7 egg yolks
- 1/2 pound butter
- 1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
- Frosting:
- 7 egg whites
- 1 pound chopped nuts
- 1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons sugar
Directions
- Beat egg yolks, butter, and sugar until fluffy.
- Mix in flour and bake at 400 degrees until a tester comes out clean.
- Beat egg whites until stiff, add nuts and sugar. Cook over low heat then remove from the stove.
- Place on cake and cool until done.
