Caramel Nut Pound Cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 pound light brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a tube pan.
- Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar a little at a time. Beat well.
- Add sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs 1 at a time. Beat well after each.
- Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with the milk.
- Add vanilla and nuts.
- Pour into prepared tube pan and bake at 325 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours.
