This recipe collection began as a way to back up my mother's recipe collection that she has collected in a black binder since the 1950's. Maggie and I are also adding recipes that we want to keep track of, so this will become our family go to location for storing and finding our recipes

Butter-nut Crescents

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (Chop fine)

Directions

  1. Melt butter in small saucepan; remove from heat.
  2. Stir in 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar, water and vanilla.
  3. Gradually blend in flour then pecans to make a pasty like dough.
  4. Pinch off dough, about a teaspoonful at a time and roll lightly between the palms of hands, into finger-like strips about 2 inches long. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and curve into crescents.
  5. Bake in a slow oven (300–325°F) 20 minutes, or until delicately golden.
  6. Remove carefully from the cookie sheet, dust with confectioner's sugar while still hot.
  7. Allow to cool then dust again with confectioner's sugar, to make a generous white coating.
