Butterscotch Refrigerator Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
Directions
- Cream butter; add sugars, vanilla, and eggs, one at a time; beat until light. Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts.
- Chill for about 2 hours.
- Shape into two loaves 2 inches square. Wrap in waxed paper, and chill overnight.
- Slice 1/8 inch thick. Bake on cookie sheets in hot oven, 400F, for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove to wire racks while hot.
