This recipe collection began as a way to back up my mother's recipe collection that she has collected in a black binder since the 1950's. Maggie and I are also adding recipes that we want to keep track of, so this will become our family go to location for storing and finding our recipes

Honey Pecan Balls

Start to Finish Time: 2 hours 35 minutes
Inactive Prep: 2 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar, approximate

Directions

  1. Cream butter and honey in mixing bowl.
  2. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Add remaining ingredients except confectioner's sugar. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Refrigerate dough for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 300 - 325 degrees.
  6. Shape dough into small balls. Dough will be crumbly.
  7. Place balls about 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in a slow oven 300-325 F for 20 minutes or until light tan.
  8. Roll in confectioner's sugar as desired while still warm, then again when cool.
