Some of the recipes in Mom's book only listed ingredients or had minimal directions. In those cases I looked for similar recipes on the internet to get some instructions. Most of the recipes I found on line for Lightning Cake use hot milk. This looks like a different version or may be a misnomer.
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
Directions
- Mix and sift flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Break eggs into a 2 cups measure and add sour cream to fill remaining space (approximately 1 cup of sour cream). Pour into mixer bowl and beat thoroughly with egg beater.

- Bake at 375 degrees F in a greased pan until it tests done.
