Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (Optional, if not used, add 1/2 teaspoon more of vanilla.)
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Directions
- Mix sugar and butter.
- Add egg and flavoring, mix thoroughly.
- Sift together dry ingredients and stir in.
- Refrigerate for several hours. (2-3 hours) Heat oven to 375F.
- Divide dough in half and roll out on lightly floured pastry sheet or board. (Very thin for crispy, or 1/2 inch thick for thicker, softer cookies.
- Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake 7-8 minutes, or until golden brown
